A powerful June jet stream continues to plow into the west coast, keeping our weather active. Look for high pressure to return by this weekend, and set things back to normal.
A strong (about 150 mph) June jet stream is bringing plenty of moisture to the North State. One storm brought in by the jet brought mountain showers Wednesday evening... and a few light ones in the Valley, too. Another storm is headed our way Thursday night.
We'll be in-between storms Thursday, meaning it'll be mild and muggy... but dry. Our next storm will move in Thursday night. This one looks a bit more potent, so more areas in the Valley could see showers early Friday morning, but not much. By Friday afternoon, we'll start to clear things up. This storm should bring decent rain totals to the Siskiyous and Trinity Alps, but not too much for anywhere else. Wednesday's storm brought 1" to Eureka and 2" to Crescent City! But only about 1/4" to 1/2" in Trinity county, and only a few hundredths elsewhere. A bit more can be expected in the North State Thursday night. Snow levels will be very high, above 10,000'.
By this weekend, high pressure will return to California, push the jet stream northward... and warm us up nicely. Look for near average (for early June) high temperatures. Models are now suggesting our first heatwave of the young season next week... 90's in the Valley!
Enjoy the cool weather for the next couple of days... a big warmup is coming!
