Still plenty of clouds Tuesday around the North State, but temperatures warmed up nicely. Look for sunshine Wednesday, leading to an even warmer day!
High pressure has returned to California, and warmed us up Tuesday. This ridge was not strong enough to keep the high clouds from visiting us again (we call this a 'dirty ridge'), but it should strengthen enough to send those clouds into the Pacific Northwest Wednesday. With plenty of sunshine, look for temperatures to warm another 5 degrees or so, putting us very close to record highs for February 22nd! Very nice.
A surface ridge of high pressure moves into the Pacific Northwest Thursday. That will push a lot of air southward into California. That will get funneled inbetween the Sierra & Coast Ranges, and cause us to get windy... look for 35 to 40 mph north wind gusts in the Valley! This ridge will move by Friday, leading to much less wind. Both Thursday & Friday will still be warm.
High pressure breaks down this weekend, so we'll cool down... back to near normal temperatures. It looks like those north winds could return Sunday & Monday, but unfortunately, still no rain in sight.
Enjoy Wednesday's warm weather!
