I liked the changes in the Emmy ceremony last night. They divided the show into categories, comedy, drama, etc, so you could anticipate what was coming next. And of course I was very excited by the victories of Mad Men and 30 Rock, two of my favorite shows. I still wish Jon Hamm, Mad Men’s Don Draper, had won for best actor in a drama, but you can’t win them all.
Neil Patrick Harris was good at host, although I could have done without the “color commentator” making whimsical remarks as the winners walked to the stage. His attempts at humor were hit and miss and sometimes pretty distracting.
The Emmy Show itself was a winner. According to Broadcasting & Cable, the 61st Primetime Emmy awards earned a 4.2 rating in the 18-49 demo and drew 13.3 million viewers, according to preliminary live-plus-same-day numbers. Those numbers mark increases compared to last year's show and makes it the most-watched Emmys in three years, a significant increase.
So did your favorite show win or lose? I’d like to hear your thoughts. Personally I was pretty impressed that when I switched over to watch Mad Men on AMC, they already had a graphic congratulating the writers of Mad Men on their Emmy win. Fast thinking.
Thanks for watching & reading,
